I'm Otto Blomqvist, a professionally trained fishing guide and youth & leisure instructor with BA in NGO & youth work. I live in Pälkäne (Pirkanmaa region). I'm originally from Jyväskylä, so I know the rivers and lakes of Central Finland too.
I have more than 20 years of fishing experience. My areas of expertise include many forms of active fishing like jigging, fly fishing, ice fishing and spinning.
I've worked with children and youth for ten years, both in youth work and in child protection. I believe the methods of experiential learning and social pedagogy can be a good addition to more traditional education and support when working with children and young people.
I'm also specialised in fishing flies in all their forms.
I have been tying flies for fifteen years and trying my best to develop the Finnish fly tying culture towards greater diversity. I have participated in the Finnish fly tying championships both as a contender and as a judge. I have participated also in various fly tying contests both in Finland and abroad, example in Seattle, The United States.
We always have the required safety gear with us on our fishing trips. We provide PFDs and ice picks, and carry a safety rope and a first aid kit with us.
The guide has a charter boat operator's certificate, safety training for travel industry, first aid trainings and the food hygiene proficiency certificate.
